This was my first attempt at any type of contest with my new K2. WOW! What a blast. One thing I have learned tonight is that it is much more of a challenge to operate QRP during a contest on a crowded band. I had a blast. Thanks to all I worked tonight.

40m just starting to open up here on West Coast at quitting time. Wish this event started 1 hour later, 6-8PM Pacific.

N9QU Operated by: Leo
Not much happening on 20, 80 or 160, but 40 was busy. As usual, lots of fun!

NT9K Operated by: Bill
Nice to work a few on 20 meters at the start. Lots of new calls this time too. 40 meters was real good in FL. I was using my 100th Anniversary bug and my G3YUH amplidan. Lots of great fists heard. Thanks to Gary K9MMS, for K9SKC.

UU1AZ Operated by: Jim
It`s my first time SKS, very interesting contest.
No answer me K9SKC and K0IVK :(
Thanks to all, see you in next SKS/WES

W0JFR Operated by: John Reilly
40m was the money band again. 20m seemed open in the beginning -- just wasn't anyone there. 80m was really noisy here. Always fun to work some new SKCC callsigns and numbers. K2/100, vertical, Begali Camelback, K2RFP logging s/w.

KC9MUB Operated by: John
Lots of fun. Just got my SKCC number that afternoon. Had a novice in 1964, and just got passed my tech and general end of this January. Only been back on HF - CW 2 weeks and having a ball. Thanks for the Club Station contact Gary - it made my night! Can't wait for the next one.

KB4T Operated by: Frank
40 Meters was the workhorse. Enjoyed using the Amp and 2 Bugs. Conditions fairly good here in FL. Made the most QSOs ever in a Weekday Sprint.

W4CU Operated by: TOM
THIS WAS MY FIRST SKS. I STARTED 1HR 20 MINUTES LATE AND TOOK A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT WAS FUN. THANKS AND 73

OK, so I only had time for one contact but I made that one count by working the club station. Shweet! Thanks Gary.

My J-38 works great.

K8JD Operated by: John
40M seemed to be the best band tonight, got two on 20M, 4 on 80 M but no takers on 160 when I called CQ SKS !
Lots of T numbers this month ! Club call in there but could not get a reply when I called him. ?

KB4QQJ Operated by: RANDY
Wow! Band was great in NC. QRP is tuff sometimes but this Sprint wasn't one of them. Don't think any station was less than 579. Big signal was N9ol 20 over. Pete W5PEH was smokin on his bug and AA4HT&UU1AZ were just in the last seconds. Thanks to all for a fun sprint. I'm with Michael, let's do it again! BCNU de KB4QQJ Randy

W6UT Operated by: Dennis
Worked 20/40. Started out good on 20M. Slowed down when I went to 40M. Still had a great time.

W5ZR Operated by: Bert
I ran my Elecraft K-2 at 5 watts this time. Worked members on 20M, 40M
and 80M; but 40M was the band with most qsos. I sure got beat-out a lot
running 5 watts! Great fun and good turn-out tonite.

Ran QRP (5watts) in this one & all qsos except one were on 40. Forty was hot tonight, first qso was with UU1AZ, he was calling cq SKS & was loud. CT1CBW answered my cq, they were my only DX contacts. Enjoyed the event. Ed

N5LUL Operated by: BRAD
This "contest" is great! Made several contacts within a short period of time, and had fun talking for 15 minutes or so with others. I'll be back next month.

I was running a HeathKit HW-16 into a dipole at 30'... Using the Vibroplex "Know-Code" key.

Got a few on 80m (Alan WA1AR, Keith WI0S & Gary K9SKC) but the real party was on 40m which hung in there for pretty much the entire sprint; got the club call there also, tks Gary. The other high point was Jim UU1AZ in Ukraine, my first QSO for the evening. Condx seemed very good. Had the camera going; will post video later on. My station: Elecraft K2 @ 15w to 100' wire; Junker straight key. -- 73, Drew

Had a great time. Got my 40 meter antenna array working again during the nice weather last week and it was working great. The bands were in pretty good shape and the signal to noise ratio was good. A real fun sprint.

Found NT9K and K5IZO on 20m with good signals but it was like no one else came to play. Hated to go to 40m with 20 wide open. 40m was so hot I never gave 80m a thought. One of the louder signals of the night at this QTH was a Virginia QRP station. HI It was great to work some unfamiliar callsigns which I hope means new blood jumping into the SKS. The key used this evening was my Nye Viking Master Key. Sure happy the propagation gods paid us a visit.

Thanks to Bill, NT9K, for allowing me the privilege of using the club call K9SKC in my second SKS. Thanks also, Bill, for all of your assistance and for clarifying how to use the club call along with my call to enable making two-for-one QSOs.

I apologize for not going back to all of the stations that answered my K9SKC CQs. Sometimes, there were pile-ups, and sometimes the callers had very weak signals.

I also apologize for not better-equalizing the time spent on the bands. I made the first 9 QSOs on 20 meters. At 0036Z, I went to 40 meters, stayed there until 0146Z, and made 28 QSOs. I QSYd to 80 at 0146 and made 8 QSOs. I thought about moving to 80 sooner, but 40 was in great condition. I also wanted to go to 160, but ran out of time. The two-hour time limit is a challenge.

I had great fun in this SKS. I can't say enough about how pleased I am that I discovered and joined the SKCC. I think this club is excellently organized -- on-air activities, contests, website, award structure, friendliness and helpfulness of members, and more, are great. Having multiple operating activities every month really helps to contact many members and keeps the interest level high. I also am very impressed with the score submission utility and the fact that the results are very quickly available on the SKCC website. This is far better that waiting months to see the results -- as is the case with most other radio contest reporting.

Thanks for all of the QSOs and for your patience with me trying to use the two-fer-QSO mode.

73,
Gary . K9SKC/K9MMS

Tnx to SKCC for the fun. For me the Sprint is all about encouraging the new members to go for their 'C'. A sprint or 2 and you're on your way. It also gives the 'C' a boost toward getting their 'T' I think SKCC is the best way for a new CW recruit to build their on the air skills.
As Keith WI0S always says, "CW 4 ever" that's our goal isn't it?

AD5VC Operated by: Dana
20m provided contacts in FL, CA and AZ before an incoming line of thunderstorms cut short my operating after 15 minutes. Perhaps next month the weather will be more obliging.

Good signals received in CT. Only got to participate

on 40 meters. My QRP cq calling on 7051 was answered

Spent most of the time on 40M. I got 4 on 20M and 8 on 80M.
It was a little difficult, as I was using my new FT450 and strugled a bit by twisting the wrong knob a few times too often. Also had a case of the scratchy bug key, on all 4 of them. Tonight I will look an see if I need a little filtering. They do not seem to scratch on a side tone oscillator. Only 5 more to go for that "T"

Should we extend the SKS entry deadline from 3 to 7 days?
