What a great theme, great fun searching for all of the rain deer and elves. So many other things going on this weekend, wish I could have spent more time on WES. These sprints and SKCC has made Ham Radio much more fun for me, thanks everyone. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!
Could only work WES on Sat. Concentrated on reaching the West coast ( See my Nov. soapbox comments) All contacts on 20 meters and did reach Oregon, Washington,Colorado California, Idaho and Missouri.
1960 Collins S line, 100 Watts to a Carolina Windom Ant.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my SKCC family.
Cool, worked Rudolph and Olive, Donner, Dasher, Cupid, Blitzen and a bunch of Elves. Do I feel special.
I thought conditions were great Sunday, not so much Saturday night, but still had a blast.
Thanks all for answering my QRPp call as well as answering all QRP stations. We don't make it easy on you, but from the reports I received, thanks for the great reports. And thanks for not bailing on the QSO cuz you couldn't hear us perfectly. Thanks for just saying "Sri Agn Pse"! Those make the best contacts.
And it was my personal best QRPp.
Merry Christmas to all and to all, see you down the log
Storms and lightning ruined day on Saturday. Busy Sunday and got in there for a short time and gave out the ELF for points. Try again next time.
Enjoyed working the three stations I did. Thanks!! Much noise here. Almost going back to 2020 conditions. Maybe next month.
Propagation to Europe and to the south was much better than last month.47 SPCs last month, 57 SPCs this month.Didn't contact as many reindeer/Santa as I thought I would, got quite a few elves though. Some long QSOs on 80M Saturday night, worked N0CW (California) and some other western states. Pretty neat to have KH6ZM answer my CQ on 20M.Looks like quite a few of the big guns exercised their amplifiers this weekend.Looks like KR2Q is the man to beat these days. Photo shows map of SPCs I worked this WES. MS tough to get these days. Thanks for the QSOs"
Too many distractions over the weekend.
Wind gusts in excess of 50 MPH + mini hamsticks atop stacked Camo polls with no supports = very little time to participate on Saturday, but I managed a fair bit on Sunday as the weather was much calmer. This was also my first event where I was set up to alternate between my new SKCC sideswiper and straight key-- many thanks for those of you who put up with my sloppy sending on the former while I worked on getting the hang of it. Also my first time to make trans-Atlantic contacts on 40M with Bob/Scrooge, F6EJN, and Bert, F6HKA.
73 and MX to all,
Steve, AC9XS
Thanks everyone for the QSOs. I was glad to hear Bert, F6HKA come in so strong, but try as I might, I could not copy Paul, G4PVM.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Jim
It was good to work for a couple hours and make some progress toward my S. Thanks for all the contacts!
I was camping at Weiser State Forest FN10om with my HW-8, 1.5w to an inv vee.
Enjoyed another WES!! Operated as much as I could tolerate sitting still. Hi Hi Used this Japanese Coffin Bug for most of my QSOs and a Vibroplex Lightning from 1929 for the rest. Thanks for the fun and already looking forward to K3Y!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL ES 73
Another GREAT WES! Thanks everyone who participated. I missed my Hex-beam again this month but still had a great time and enjoyed myself very much. See you in the logs! 73,
Kevin AF5SW #20090T (x3)
Congrats to all who copied my peanut-whistle signal (not from QRP, but because of a really, really small indoor antenna). I appreciate the accurate signal reports - like 339, 239, 449, etc. Honesty IS the best policy!
Had a great time; Ol' Rudolph wore out his Red Nose (and wrist!), but had a lot of fun working old and new ham friends.. Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Natal, Buon Natale, vrolijk kerstfeest, frohe Weihnachten, Nollaig Shona, Veselé Vánoce, Schöni Wiehnachtem Feliz Navidad to ALL! May YOU and YOURS be blessed with joy and happiness for this wondrous season.
I got one more QSO and a few more points than my first WES, but I got too cold, so I packed up early. It's still fun, and I'm slowly getting better. Thanks to all who patiently worked my awkward QSOs.
All QSOs on 40m using a YouKits HB-1B with 4 watts to an end fed wire. Key is Vibroplex Vibrokeyer wired as a sideswiper.
Fun time with QRPp. Thanks to all that heard me. Peter
Fun event that I enjoyed on-and-off through the weekend! Thanks to all the reindeer and elves!!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to be added to my log. It was fun to play elf for the contest. The band conditions were pretty noisy here but the signals seemed to be up a bit so it all evened out. Some of the loudest stations here were out fo EU with F6EJN and F6HKA blasting in as usual. A special thanks to Take-san JR2IUB for giving me a much needed SPC mult. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again in the next one. 73 & MX de AK6A - Bill
A few contacts during the ARRL 10 meters contest and the Xmas WES, a little CW activity this week-end for pleasure. All the best to everybody and have a merry Xmas and a happy New Year 2022 ! I hope to meet you soon ! 73 and stay safe !
Premier WES Merci a CT7AFI , VE3KZ , KR2Q
Thank you for all these QSOs and Merry Christmas everyone. It will be a pleasure to see you again next year. Let’s not forget our XYLs without whom we couldn’t discuss so often together. Bob
Hello everyone. Thanks for the QSOs. The conditions were not too bad with a good opening on 15m on Saturday. The 20m was in great shape especially with the West Coast.
Conditions : K4D and amplifier running 400 Watts. 6 els Yagi on 15m/4 on 20m and 2 on 40m. Inverted V on 80m and inverted L on 160m. Thanks to all the Reindeer stations contacted. I hope to see many of you at the K3Y in January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. 73 Bert
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone ...
73
Frank F8DTU
Good fun and 20m quite lively. Also had a QSO on 15m.
Kenwood TS-440s, 100 watts, fishing pole vertical, Marconi PS No213A pump key ex GKA coast station.
Merry Christmas 73
December WES... after having to miss the November edition due to shack problems, finally ready for this last edition of the year. I had a lot of fun, although the propagation in 10, 15, and 20 meters was particularly poor. Different situation in 40 meters, where I managed to make several qso and meet new friends.
Station setup:
IC 706 PRO II 100/400w (sometimes I needed to be heard HI!!)
GP for 20 and dipole on 40, 38 meters long EndFed for others bands
New BUG, commissioned to Wilson MFG by the Canadian Air Force during World War II.
Wilson has found a special solution for this bug, which can be used as a traditional bug, or turned sideways as a straight key. By removing the rubber feet, and refitting them to the top of the bug, it can be turned upside down and used by a left hander.
See you next!!!
MNI TKS TO ALL ! looking forward to K3Y again.
73, Take
Cheer's to all for another great event. Although my time was limited after the Mid-West Super storm across six states I managed some very special contacts.
Our Thoughts & Prayers are with those affected by this record WX event.
73 Rick
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL 73, HANK
Thanks to all that participated, it was a fun event.
Russ, K1RWT
40 and 20 were good on Saturday and 2 Qs on 15. Sunday AM 40 OK 20 had very little to offer. A Merry Christmas to all. Enjoy the Plymouth lobster trap tree.
What a fun time!! I was an elf in this one (believe me, I really fit the picture hi hi). Ran 75 watts from my TS-590SG into an all-band vertical (elevated), using my Kent KT1 straight key. Thanks to all who gave me a contact. A very Merry Christmas and holiday season to all!
Curt K2CWM NJ
Fun. Bands getting somewhat better. 73s and have a wonderful holiday season. Stay safe.
The bands were in great shape. 40mtrs was in my opinion very strong. Was exciting to work Max, KH6ZM on both 10 & 15 mtrs.
Was also nice to see many new SKCC members in WES this month. I worked a lot of them.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all SKCC members!
Fun event as always, MURPHY struck, computer crashed, and lost complete log. Remembered working 1 elf, KR2Q on 2 bands, and NZ0T last night. Sri will not be able to upload to LOTW. On happy note Merry Christmas to all.
Band condx not terrific, stations clumped together, but had fun and got a few new numbers towards my Centurion.
Always a fun event. Some Elves forgot to add that suffix- Thanks Ken for putting out the list to allow us cross check. Conditions on 15 at times was pretty good, but I think the SA stations were busy on 10-meter contest. I did snag a YV but that's all. Conditions on 20 to EU were not great and it seemed everyone moved off of 20 pretty early on Saturday and Sunday to move to 40. 40 again was the money band and 80 surprised with very quiet conditions for a change. Thank you to all of you QRPers who allowed me assess the FTDX10's ability to pull the small signals out of the muck. It fared very well - Boy there were a lot of QRPers calling in all weekend. There must be a very large contingent of NAQCC members in SKCC. I am one of them
Thank you, Ken, for a year of memorable WES events- Looking forward to you outdoing yourself next year.
Nice event. Lots of participation. Worked more Senators than Tribunes. And I received lots of high SKCC numbers. Those that learn to send CW using paddles don't know what they are missing! Had several RBN Monitors answer me on 15m, but I did not find any SKCC activity there. Used a 100w K4 with 3el triband beam, 40m dipole, and a 107' EFRW on 80m. Merry Christmas. Jody - K3JZD
First non-scheduled contact with my Elecraft KX1! Running 1W on internal batteries
Very much fun.
I hope everyone who wanted to work Prancer was able. I know there were some sigs way too weak for me to pick up, and vice versa I'm sure. happy and safe holidays, everyone.
Spent about 12 hours in the 10 meter contest, missed a lot of bonus stations. Always a fun theme.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.
Nice Sunday Afternoon .... Portable Buddy Stick setup on 40 meters only ... continued to become familiar with new ICOM 7300 and antenna tuner. A few glitches :-) Looks like mostly regional contacts but also nice contact with F6EJN in France. Had fun and good practice for listening ears. As usual, we have great SKCC folks.
QSOs by band: 80M: 18, 40M: 61. 20M: 1. 40 and 80 were quite good. Time on air: 3:42 hours. Thanks for all QSOs and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. 73, John, K4BAI.
Went out to the old home place and hooked the KX3 to my old 180 ft horizontal vee to see if it still worked. Played a few minutes and made a couple SK contacts. Merry Christmas.
Well, that was fun. I had no luck in the ARRL 10 meter contest so I finally spent time in the WES. It has been awhile since I really got to play in the WES as there was always another contest I was in running at the same time. Was good practice for working pile-ups at times.
The weather was so nice I decided to work the bulk of WES QRP portable from the top of the hill behind my house. The antenna is a full size 1/4-wave whip for 20M with 3 radials.
Had a great time operating for a short time, only a couple hours. Bands still a challenge for my westerly station reaching to the east. To my surprise I had 6 80 meter Q's on Saturday night.
100 watts on battery power and a OCF dipole wire antenna up 20' See you all next event :)
Took my Fan Dipole down and laid the coax on the ground maybe 50'.. Then got cold and windy couldn't put the efhw up so tried loading the coax and walla it loaded .. Not much of a receiving ant but worked for 4 contacts ..swr was less than 2:1 ...From Idaho worked NJ NY TN and Oklahoma ...
A very good Christmas WES. Santa is only a few miles from my QTH but couldn't contact him. I hope he doesn't have any trouble finding my QTH on Christmas night.
Familiar carols fill the cold air,
With holiday shoppers going everywhere.
‘Tis again that Noel time of year, but
Yet it finds me lacking in good cheer.
So what’s the problem you may ask?
Pandemic fatigue and wearing a mask.
Partisan politics, bad climate, and more
Have made holiday spirit a definite chore.
So what to do, let my doggerel express,
Play the role of an ELF in the December WES.
My fingers on a key, mug of coffee in hand,
I anxiously tune across the ham bands,
And what do you know, my Yule spirit is back
In search of some QSOs with Santa, and pack.
So Merry Christmas to all, may your code sing with mirth,
For folks of good will, let peace reign on Earth!
73, Frank, K8FAC
Very little time this weekend, between work and digging out from 14 inches of heavy wet snow. Did make a few contacts to keep my WES streak going.
Noel
Worked mostly elves & reindeer this year....I wonder why ? Well, this is who i found in my shack when i came downstairs. He sure looks like our Newsletter editor too....
Great way to end the year... great turnout and good band conditions.
Santa's helpers were hard to find. Thanks to Brian, KF6C for my one elf bonus!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
new to skcc, happened to hear someone call cq wes. Maybe I'll have time during the Jan wes to participate more.
Operated from my winter QTH near Tampa Bay.Rig Icom 706Mk11 100watts to a 60ft stealth (HOA) wire 40 and 20 were very good Thanks for the Qso Ray
While only two QSOs this time, I still had lots of fun. 73 and Happy Holidays, Jeff K9JP
This was lots of fun. I popped in and out running 5W or less from home using my KX3, my QCX Plus, QCX Mini, and also used my G90 in the car. I did most of it on the Bug, but got the courage to use the paddles as a sideswiper for the last 13 contacts. I even made two QRP QSOs from the car.
This was my first WES and I operated for only a few minutes. I was pleased to QSO with Larry (aka Rudolph)—AH6AX—who had a very strong signal here in Arizona. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to participate in WES events in 2022.
Portable operations from Mesa,AZ. 20m only.
bonus stns QSOs: KF6C,K3EW,AK6A,W9MKM,W7AMI,F6EJN,
VE2CRO. MERRY CHRISTMAS, 73s & STAY TUNED. DARYL
I did not have much time, but it was fun. I enjoyed a nice opening to EU, Sunday, 1 hour before sunset. I worked my friend Bert (f6hka), f6ejn and i4ikw- which was good considering my dipole at 25 feet. Merry Christmas to all and thanks for qso's
The bands in my area were not very good. Signals very weak. It was fun though. I always look forward to the weekend sprintathon.
Wow, that was a good one. Use my old beat up Ebay bug for the first time. Finally got it sort of working. Finally found a way to slow it down. Don't laugh, it works! Thanks for all the contacts and have a great Christmas guys. CU in Jan. IC 7610 @ 70 watts, 80 meter doublet @ 30ft. Cold in ETX this weekend.
Managed to squeeze in a couple while operating on generator. Tornado passed less than 1/10 mile from our house, took out one large barn and badly damaged a second at neighbors across the street. We only lost one tree. Power lines all over the roads, and we can see 6 poles/transformers down from our porch.
We retired inland after our thirteenth hurricane. I think I might like hurricanes (at least the ones without significant storm surge) better than tornadoes. Our son lives on the south side of Mayfield, KY. North side was wiped out. We are about 30 miles away from there. We are very lucky
Thanks to all for another fun WES. Seems like band conditions were a bit better into central Texas this month! Thanks to those who tolerated my sloppy fist! Looking forward to January! Jim KA6J
Thank You for the December WES QSO's.
Have a Very Merry Christmas, and
a Happy New Year. 73. Larry
Lots of fun, wanted to work a lot more but lots of family activity prevented it. If I didn't have to sleep I could have done better.
Dec WES is a FUN time thanks to all.
Managed to get the winter vintage shack (furnace room) on for a few, but competition from the ARRL 10 Meter contest and wind-induced antenna repair really cut into operating time.
It was great fun using my Elmer’s Electric Specialty Bug!
Thanks to everyone for a great year of SKCC fun!
73 and Happy Holidays from Ka9p
Great fun as usual, pretty good propagation on 80/40/20. Got Max on 15m (thanks Max) and Bert on 40m (first time for me to get Bert on 40m, thanks Bert). Couldn't hear the FL stn on 160m, maybe next month will be able to give you NE on 160m.
HO HO HO Thanks for the QSOs 73!
I spent much of Saturday in the dark because our power was out. Thank you everyone for another enjoyable WES.
73 es Merry Christmas
I was traveling for the Dec WES so I could only operate mobile on the open highway. I managed a few reindeer and Elves but without sked page I could only search up and down the band. No handy list of all the bonus stations while driving. BUT, by far the most exciting was finally working Max in Hi from my mobile. That was my first mobile to Hi SKCC contact. Thanks to some great receive antennas for the ones who managed to pull me out. Logging while mobile used to be a challenge...hee. Ask me sometime how to make it much easier nowadays! KX3 to Hustler sticks and a Whiterook single lever sideswiper shifter mounted.
Thanks to everyone for a great weekend! I had a great time and especially want to thank all of our bonus stations. With so many, it sure kept it interesting!
My first WES. My first four CW DX QSOs, France, Spain, England and Portugal. Power went out during a T-storm Saturday afternoon and when it passed, worked a couple of QSOs in the dark on a Bioenno battery, using a paper log until electricity was restored.
Over half of my QSOs were on 40; 20 was fair. 80 and 15 gave me some QSO points. 15 was essentially closed but it did give me Hawaii as a multiplier on 15 thanks to Max KH6ZM.
Only a little while to jump in this time, but I can't let a WES go unentered! Still fun - thanks.
Had to split my time this weekend with the ARRL 10 Meter Contest. Thanks to all who participated. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
Second year in XMAS WES. Lots of fun. Great club with awesome (patient) members. Used a W1SFR cootie this time. CUAGN Soon! Merry Christmas
December wes is one of my favorites. See if I can attach my latest Ham Shack picture now in Wisconsin 5 months. Always good to work old friends. Thx everyone fer the QSO's. Have a Merry Christmas and see you in K3Y. 73
Wow! Had a Great time doing this WES. Drinking some Nog and connecting with some great Ops just really puts me in the Christmas spirit. Thanks to all who worked me. It was a pleasure being CUPID and a record for me with 93 QSO's ,Im very happy with that, especially since i didnt get to work as much on Sunday due to a nephew's Christmas play and B-Day party. I look forward to more fun and the K3Y event coming up soon! Merry Christmas and God Bless!
Andy KD9KHA
I didn't think I could so easily "invest" two whole days beside a Flameproof straight key. Well....
So much fun this month! Hit my C during WES - thank you to all those I made QSOs with. Until next month!
Its been a long time sense I've done a WES. I had fun.
Fun as always. Getting on toward Senator!
ELF with NEW TOY. My K4 was due for delivery on Thursday but there was 3 inches of snow on the driveway, so I had to drive 30 miles to get it. Spent Thursday after noon and Friday getting to know it ready for WES. My first QSO with it, not WES, was Bert F6HKA QRP at 5 watts out. For WES the K4 was connected to the KPA 1500 running 1500 watts on 40, 20 and 15. Reduced power to 1kw on 80 and 160 to save the relays on my switched dipole antenna. 20, 40 80 and 160 all seemed to have good activity and band conditions. This is my highest WES score, a new radio and good condition sure made it fun. Thanks to everyone for the great activity.
Another Christmas WES in the books. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Nothing like being a Texas Elf. Hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas this year
Thanks for all the contacts! I really enjoy this WES events. I spent most of my time running on 20 meters. This was my best performance yet in a WES, I made 116 QSOs!. Reached Tx6 with this contest, I should make Tx7 before the end of the year. I have a vertical for 80 and 40 meters and a Tri-Band 3 element beam for 20, 15 and 10 meters. Thanks to all the elfs and reindeer stations! Next year we need a grinch station and when they work you they get all your bonus points!!!
Thanks to all for fighting to pull my 5w signal out of the QRM.
Great holiday event. Didn't get all the bonus ops, but sure had a great time playing an elf this year. The old Les Logan Speedx bug did a great job along with the Begali HST "cootie" for the QRS stations. Many thanks for all the contacts...this holiday event is always a good one! Catch you all in the K3Y!
Many thanks to all who worked me this weekend. Merry Christmas to all and hope to see you in the New Year!
Russ
Dipped my toe in the water for first cw contest---
will be ready for next WES
I was at my home in Nashville and took my Radio and delta loop. I set up in my room upstairs looking out the window. I was happy to make contacts at 10W.
great fun Merry Xmas - Happy Holidays... 73
I am hoping I worked a bunch of new C, T, S on my journey towards Senator. I have not merged the files yet.
I sent Santa a letter asking for 18 T's and S's to hit 200 in my S Quest. I must have been nice lately because he brought me 31. Thanks to all and how about some extra cookies and eggnog for Santa, Scrooge, reindeer, and the elves? The key pictured was built around 1878 and has been used for all SKCC contacts made here (Santa is an option when ordering). Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Trying on my new call sign. Had a good time.
Great concept for the Christmas Holiday!
Always lots of fun. I finally collected enough numbers for my TX5... Just plugging along..

Another great WES weekend!!
Always a fun event.
Had a great time looking for the reindeer and Sant's helpers. Even had XYL researching the "Olive" origin story!
First time running this event and it was a fun time, thanks to all the patient ears.
Lots of fun.
I was pleased to find a few elves and reindeer, Max in HI on 15M and even a QSO on 10M - Good tidings!
Matt in PA - Ten-Tec C21/G5RV
Always fun to play in the WES ! Lots of activity this month. Season's Greetings to all ! 73 -Joe N3HEE
SnP on Sunday. Ten Tec Corsair II 100 watts with 40mtr Inverted Vee and G5RV along with a Viz 90 Degree Bug. I normally do not track bonus points.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone! Bands were in pretty good shape. I worked strong European stations on 40m in the afternoon both days. Hope everyone has a very enjoyable Christmas with their families. Thanks to the organizers for another great WES. 73
Fun WES - Limited time due to local RFI
Happy Holidays to all the CW ops of SKCC . May all of your contact be 599 in the coming year. 73 de N4ow
AL 11375s
Thanks everyone for Your patience while I learned to use my homebrew side sweeper and let me participate as an elf.
Thanks, Angel N4SNI
Merry Christmas
Best WES ever for me!! Good bands, lots of participants.
Thanks to SKCC Staff and members who make this possible.
Cecil, N5DR
Thanks to all for a great WES. Bands are better and heard lots of good signals. Happy Holidays and 73, Dick
My first WES! Thanks to all, and apologies for my messing up the exchange.
Had a nice time, hadn't participated in a WES since Feb. Had to move from FL to UT in March, now I'm in an apartment here, so no big antenna's, I had just received my new Buddistick Pro from Buddipole Friday. So I set it up in the front yard and went to work. Ran 50 watts from my KX3/100 and got 6 contacts today, OR,CA,HI,CO,WA,and ID !
I'm happy with my apartment antenna!
I"m ready for K3Y next month,it will be my 11th year participating in K3Y! Thanks to all the ops and see everyone next month, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year...73 de Ed in Nephi, UT.
Off n On with crazy winds all day Saturday, power off for about 1 1/2 hrs Sunday morning. Other than those obstacles, WES was great. Thanks everyone for the fun - 73 East Central Ohio Randy..
Merry Christmas!
Band condx were good worked a few on 15M this time. But my Cushcraft A4S tribander w/40M lost its rotatable 40M capabilities, again :~( But it was still fun searching for Santa and all his helpers.
Another fine WES it was!
One of my better showings in a WES event. I worked ID toward my WAS-S (two to go, DE & NV). And I got 12 new numbers toward my Tx7 (20 to go). Once I got my fingers warmed up, my Cootie key worked very well. I avoided my RCAF Straight Key because I need more practice with that before I get on the air with it.
Elecraft k1 5 wts g5rv.. 35 qsos..used hb key, nmbr 83.. tnx to SKCC board mbrs..the other frequency for 20mtrs should be shown as 14114.. i use it when too much other contests are on 14050 area... so, i'll make more QRM in 2022.. hihi.. i do it daily.. so, tnx to all and c u in January, and we'll make more QRM then, it's LEGAL, hihi.. so, takecare and c u agn in the new year..so,,,,

Another fun DEC WES. Bands were mostly favorable to QRP, other times not. Activity was strong the times I was on. Now waiting for K3Y.
Enjoyed WES as much as I could with my Caregiving responsibilities. Thanks
some wind here but turn out to be great fun, Tnx Merry Christmas SKCC group
Very much fun this week end.
80M was the money band with 20M a close 2nd. Was able to get 22 new S's towards Sx5 and get Tx20. Very low C turnout, which I consider a good indication that there's new ops in the SKCC fold. Had a wonderful time operating considering the Ohio Football games on Sunday. Looking forward to next months WES and K3Y
MNY TNX to all the volunteers who keep this club so active and continue to organize these GREAT events!!! Your contributions of time and expertise are amazing!! Also Thank You to all those who endured my "??? AGN PSE" and patiently repeated your call.
I hope all can enjoy some peace and joy ...

TNX Everyone for an altogether more successful 2nd WES. I had a ton of fun, even with my limited operating time due to work. Can't wait until the next one! 73 de NT4TS
Got on Sunday and made a few contacts.
Seemed to be lots of station to work!
Only my third WES this year due to moving from WI to MA. Short time on Saturday and none on Sunday, but great to be back on.
IC-7610 100 watts, OCF dipole at 30" and J-38 key. Thanks all and Merry Christmas to all!
Different condx on the bands. Using the MACkey with a boatanchor from the 80's. Tnx everyone for the points. Best 73 es a Marry Xmas and a HNY.
I could only be active on the second day.
One US station on 40 meters Sunday morning but I could work Colin, VK2DVA and Pete, ZL4TE which is the ultimate DX from NED.
20 meters opened up around 13.00 UTC to the states for a couple of hours. However, most activity in the states seemed to be on 40 meters. So only worked 16 US stations.
We seem to be on the upward slope of the solar cycle but propagation is worse then one year ago and sunspots are back to zero.
Ah well... great fun in the WES anyway! On the pic below from left to right: Begali Sculpture Swing cootie, RM31 Czech army straight key and a Vibroplex standard with varispeed. In the back a good bottle of rum. No Bacardi Larry! hi
Lots of calls on 10m but not SKCC
A great weekend - but this ancient elf is weary! Thanks to all for the QSOs
First time as bonus station: Longer hours but more fun! Thank you all. Donner
Thanks to all, Merry Christmas, 73 Krys
Worked the WES just for a few minutes, Sunday early afternoon: 2 QSOs in 40m and 4 in 20m. Only 4 SPCs (NJ, IL, MO & TX). Thank you Dancer W9YY in IL for the additional 5 points. No elves this time. Rig IC706MKIIG, Ant.: Long wire (holding up the maple tree in spite of the strong winds): Key: AME’s Bushwacker in SS mode. 73 all de Jose VE3DTI.
In spite of the propagation gods refusal to help, i had fun. Thanks to all and best of the season.
First time back in the WES as something close to a normal effort after the summer/fall months of good weather - even so it was record temperature on Saturday. Anyhow, next time it will be Bad WX month for sure, I guess.. had fun.. bands were so-so, not terrible but have been expecting better condx. Looking foward to K3Y... pushing to get the contacts to provide Tx8 finally... will January do it with K3Y and WES? Shall see.
Used my non-descript never seen anywhere else SK a bit this month in addition to venerable Speed-X bug and I like this probably military SK a lot. Thanks to all for coming on to the event again.
Lots of fun with all the reindeer and elves running about. Some good conditions too.
I ran QRP for the first hour. I decided that I could have more fun and spread my ELF points more efficiently running some power. Age did seem to get in the way on the last afternoon. I then closed up shop for this WES but having the /ELF had been fun! I worked many new SKCC Numbers including many C's now closer to T's! Thanks for the Q's folks. See you on the bands again soon! 73 Bob
My first attempt. I found it a little confusing but I'll try again next month.
Great particiption. Bands were open. Thanks to all for a creative and fun WES.
tnx for the contacts. Sunday morning I used an SW-3B into an end fed and and a micro key.
two reindeer and an elf and 3 others in 2 hours Sat night.
Thanks for another fun WES. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Best 73's from Sask. Brian
Bencher straight key with 100W max to Vertical on
20 only. Tried 15 but no luck. Thanks for the sprints - season greetings to all!
It was a fun event with Santa's reindeer and elves!
Hadnt been in a WES for quite some time. Was great to be back in there. Thanks to all for the qso's and extra points. 73-Bob W0YBS
only had 30 min work wes but had fun Dave W0YZZ

Great timing, my wife went away with our girls for the weekend so I got to play WES all weekend.
At the beginning of the WES, I needed 19 T/S contacts to get my S. I have to tally up the log to see if I made it.
20M was tough for me on Saturday and better on Sunday.
I tried something new for this WES. I've never operated QRP! I am planning on doing a hike/POTA in a week, and I wanted to test my rig and setup before heading out. My SW-3B and QRPGuys EFHW performed very well while operating from the garage! I made 17 QSOs including Hawaii for my WAS during the couple of hours I was able to operate. I'm happy with my setup, and I can't wait to do some more QRP stuff.

Interesting weekend. Prop wasn't bad, though there was a lot of QSB at times. Nice to see a bunch of EU activity -- more than just the regulars. Heard several bugs that BADLY need cleaning and adjustment. Worked 8 of the "main" bonus stations, and a bunch of elves. Not a ton of bonus points, though -- 10pts/QSO might have more effect on scores. Anyway, thanks to all who participated. Great bunch of folks.
Only made one contact due to various reasons. Operated my KX2, 80-10 EFHW using my Lionel J-38 and assisted with my KXPA100 amp at 80 watts. Happy and safe Holiday season to all
Thanks for another nice WES everyone. Spent my time on 40 meters this time. Hope to see you in the Brag. 73 and stay well. Ron
A lot of fun. Nice to work some DX in this WES. The french stations were quite strong on 40 Sunday afternoon. Never heard Santa...Bummer!
Not a lot of signals in the small time I had to operate. KR2Q was booming into AZ. Nice sig!
Thanks for the Qs. FYI the key is a Cootie key.

Very little time to get on the air for this WES. Condx seemed good. Had contacts on 15 through 80.
Used my new "back up rig" the IC-7300 at 100w along with a key that I have never used before. It is a
British W.T. 8 AMP No2 MKIII which I have had for probably 25 years. I picked up one of those heavy bases on Ebay from "ATTLABMGR" to mount it on as it is a very tiny key. Also added the finger rest. It turned out to be a fun key to use with a lot of snappy tactile feedback.

I had fun with my new 40M QCX+ and got to use my Vibroplex Sideswiper and bug for this contest. I also got to work a few bands which I don't usually venture to with the Icom. The smile says it all.
I had a blast being an elf this year! Thank you to all who had a QSO with me. A record for me, including a total of 111 T/S contacts made to bring me closer to "S". (20 more to go - the SKED page begging continues)
Operated off/on this time, mostlt S&P.
Fun as usually, and thanks to the reindeer & elfs for their extra efforts.

What a great surprise to hear my dear friend George N2JNZ. Merry Christmas to all....
The bands were great. The ops even better. If I missed you, I am very sorry. Sometimes the best headphones are not enough. Just last year I was very hesitant to make even one WES contact. What a great group we have, all volunteers helping each other. As a beginner I have much to learn. This weekend was quite a workout for me. Still trying to recover. What a thrill though to do this. Thanks to all. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. See you in January K3Y
I was looking forward to this WES but family events took precedence. Great event and I really enjoyed last year. Thanks, ops and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Only operated a small amount of time due to work but enjoyed giving my elf status to a number of ops.
All cootie.
Only able to participate for 1.5 hour. Sounds like I missed a good weekend. Bummer!
Thanks to all who worked me. For the first time in years, I made qsos on all bands from 160M to 10M. The best of Season's Greetings to all....
Only got to work about 4 hrs on Sunday morning but always a good time. Looking forward to K3Y!
Thanks to all the stations that worked me and apologies to those that called but I couldn't pull out of the either. I had lots of fun this weekend. I worked stations on 80 - 15 Meters. 10M was open but it sounded like another contest was going on there so I went back to 20M. I used my W1SFR cootie for the entire event. 20M was my best band and conditions were quite good. 40M was a struggle to work many other stations while 80M late at night yielded more QSOs than I expected. It was disappointing that so many east coast stations migrated to 40M in the early afternoon long before 40M opened up to the west.
Only had a few hours to jump in, but I think I've gotten my "T" now. TU everyone, especially those who worked me through some serious QSB!
Did most of my operating on 40 Meters. Had Limited time but as always had fun.
Thanks for the great time and the few contacts which I made. Here is my new CW transmitter for 160. Operates on 1.8432 MHZ. Built in key. Was a gift from my daughter and it does work.
Great WES everyone despite having a foot of snow to deal with. That bit into my seat time. Conditions overall were good here. Didn't work one DX station other than Canada which was strange.
Best 73 and GL all. C U in K3Y...
lots of fun = I need to get up earlier as 80m at night was disappointing 73 good luck in next wes
I enjoyed being an Elf, thanks to all of my good QSO's. I also worked all of the reindeer and Scrooge. but no Santa! I never heard KS1KCC,wonder if they were operating? 73 and Merry Christmas to all, from Elf/Gene .
I only had about 25 minutes to squeeze in some WES operation but I'm glad I did. Merry Christmas to all.....
Dancer was very busy on the air. With 260 contacts, he gave out 1,330 bonus points, made contacts in 52 SPCs, including 46 states and territories, 4 provinces, and 3 countries. Thanks to all old and new friends for an enjoyable WES! 73, Dancer
Good to be back on the air. Thanks for all the great comments. Looking forward to becoming a K3Y/3 next month.
Lots of fun being an Elf again this year!!!
The Dec WES is always a fun event....as are the rest also.
Tnx fer all the stations that hunted this Elf and we will see you next month.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all

Ho! Ho! Ho! The search for Santa & helpers was particularly fun! Didn't have much luck on 10/15, though missed the first part of the event due to "other duties as assigned." Thanks to all for the great SKCC QSOs!
73s - John
Fun again. Mostly 20 meters day for me, which was active coast to coast from the middle (WTX).
Took it easy this Month after the race to S. Lots of Bonus points in this one. I was so Corn-Fussed until I studied the December rules real closely then boom it hit me... I guess I'll get a lump of Coal for my SKCC stocking....
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Everyone have a safe and happy Christmas!
Elecraft KX3, KXPA100 and PX3 - 75 wts to 40M dipole 5 ft above ground...hanging on a backyard fence.
My first WES in a few years. Enjoyed the sprint and really, really glad to be operating again!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
The BEST one yet!
Thanks to all especially the bonus operators. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Looking forward to K3Y next month.
Great FUN.73,Ray Myers

Thanks to all who participated, especially Santa, Scrooge, Reindeer and Elves. Had a great time.
Always fun. Band conditions weren't great, 40M and 20M were my best bands. Running 90 watts with Bencher straight key to an inverted vee up 40 feet. Didn't find many reindeer or elfs on 20M.
Stay well & 73!
Mike, WB2FUV
All participants were very friendly and helpful
Weird bands; 20 mostly closed but 40 open all day. very few weak signals, everyone was 579 es above or NIL. had fun es thanks to all the bonus stations.
I had fun. I was happy to get the HI station (Max) on the 15M band, and we both exchanged good RST reports. Happy Holiday season to all.
I MUST HAVE BEEN A BAD BOY THIS YEAR CAUSE SANTA DIDN'T COME MY WAY!!! Had a great time with limited on air time. Thanks to everyone for the contacts...Looking forward to next month. Merry Christmas - REMEMBER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON +
Only got 2 hours in this one
Thanks to SKCC for this fun event.
Fairly good condx this month and hope it keeps getting better. As usual it was lots of fun!!!
Thanks to all I had qso with!!!
I set out to better the score of the Dasher from last year. I made that and very happy too. I have a cold that I am fighting and this took my mind off how crappy I felt. Thanks to all that worked me as Dasher and for the multipliers that came to work me as well.
I wish we could get more of the newer ops involved on a regular basis only 7 "C" logged. They missed out of the fun.
Hoping everyone a Joyous Holiday Season.
Always fun. My favorite CW rig. Great filtering. Ten Tec OMNI VII.
Tnx for all skcc WP3PW CHE FL 73s
