Good conditions on 80 and 20, 40 was RTTY contest.
Thanks to all operators who listened for my call.
Another great boat anchor WES. Only able to work Sunday, gave out some bonus points and got a few in return. Rig was a Heathkit SB 300,SB 400 and SB 610 scope. Antenna was a Carolina windom up abt. 40 feet. Sorry but no tubes for the tuner. Thanks to all that take part in these events and the folks that give their time to make this club stand out from all the rest.
I enjoyed the WES. Only contacted a couple boat anchor stations, but that's OK. I was using my new-to-me bug. It has been quite a while since I used one. I'm not completely happy with my fist, but bought the bug so I can work on it. People seemed to be copying me OK. I suppose I'll have to get a sideswiper next so I can work on the TKA. Always nice to work a few stations for the first time.
It was a good WES excluding the 40 RTTY QRM. Some Members escaped to the 7.114 alternate frequency area. That's a good thing to remember.
One more of these and I should finally reach Centurian level! Only been 5 years.
Wow, what a WES! Big story for me was my newly installed 20m loop antenna. I haven't been happy for a long time with my 20m QSO total using my 20m dipole at 35 feet. This new loop antenna seemed to have solved the problem. I made 130 QSOs on 20m with the loop, and worked many 7th area call signs that I never used to work. Loop was purposely made to be bi-directional in the NW/SE directions. It works surprisingly well in the other directions too, only used the dipole for a couple of contacts. Only made 45 QSOs last month on 20m, and 79 the month before.Never worked North Dakota in previous contests, but worked ND 3 times in this one!
Working 40m was very tough.... RTTY QRM most
of the WES, some windows of operation between 11AM and 1PM local time. Moved up to 7.110 to 7.122 to make a few QSOs.
I cleared out my eQSL inbox before the contest, now it's jammed packed again, more work.
Photo shows 20m loop. A little hard to see... homemade balun in middle of bottom
horizontal wire around 4 feet off ground. Coax
lying on ground near cut birch tree.
But.... the best part of the contest is looking at F6EJN's cat. I asked him if I could
have it, but he said no. (can't blame him for that). Thanks for all the QSOs!
Too little time for this WES.
Really hope to have a BA rig for this next year!!!!
Another great WES! I was on for a little bit Saturday, then worked the last 45 minutes or so on Sunday. 80m seemed to be quite good, with minimal qsb. 73 all! de Jim ac9ez
Fun Sprint! Thanks for the QSOs. Now I've got to figure out why my transmitter deleted a letter now and then - strange.
Yaesu 450 D @ 100 W to OCF Dipole. Fined tuned with MFJ Deluxe Versa Tuner for 80M operation. (Not exactly the best solution, but glad to be able to work the lower band.) Sneeked into 40 M a few times to work stations within the RTTY cacophony. For the most part it was 20 or 80m this time.
It is always a pleasure to work our fellow members. 73, Mike
Good time: 5.5 hours on Saturday with my Heathkit station: DX-60/HG-10b VFO & HR-10 = 13 tubes (if you are counting, VR tube in vfo replaced by zener diode ;-). The HR-10 rcvr got a lot of help from my NESCAF audio filter!! I also went back to paper logging which made good copy a greater priority! Between working to keep the rcvr and xmtr on similar frequencies, manual T/R switching, listening to the wide receiver that hears sigs on both sides of the carrier, and trying to write in the log, it was a fun challenge... [ Shouldn't I get a bonus for that?? ;-) ]
1ST WES ever, had a Blast! Thank you everyone for helping me get through this! 40m was terrible with the RTTY contest. I will be back! Thanks again.
80 meters was THE band this weekend. The last few hours Sunday evening were really busy. The snow static wasn't helpful, but the Omni VII's DSP functions helped pull everyone through.
40 meters was pretty dead for me in the Midwest. I was only able to work 2 hours on Sat. eve and worked all of the stations on 80 meters. Great fun and hope to have more time next month.
73, Keith AGØH
Good condx on saturday.
Thank you for the nice QSOs !
But a terrible storm on sunday makes it impossible
to take part in the WES :-(
73 Joerg
No activity saturday, busy radio sunday : two meter SSB contest during the morning, WES activity the evening till the end of the event. Not many contacts but enjoyed them as usual. Due to RTTY contest my 40m activity was done between 7110 and 7115 without any problem, just a bad SWR on this high part of the band. K3WW and KB4QQJ worked on 40m and 80m. Five new numbers were logged for my future DX-Q 1300. It was nice to be called on 20m by W7RGZ in WA using my 80 watts into my good old multiband GP, Bob was using far more effective radiated power than me, hi ! Thank you all for contacts and see you next time.
Very nice WES, many new numbers and new T. Very good WES with two good periods of traffic in the afternoon in France and therefore in the morning in the USA. Thank you all for the QSO and soon, I will also be able to traffic the 40 m. see you next month for the Brag bonus and the WES. 73 Bob
I was only able to be active on Sunday, but I had fun as usual. Thank you to everyone for the QSOs and see you next month. 73 Bert.
First Participation for me tks all for your call .73 F8FSC

Conditions poor here and we had a storm raging over the weekend. Did not hear any EU stations at all. Rig TS-440s, 100 watts, vertical ant, Marconi PS No213A pump key. Picture is a Standard Radio Co bug WW2. 73
Great fun to fire up my HW100 and give away some bonus points. I think the boat anchor WES is my favourite. There didn't seem to be as many tube radios on the air this time and I only received two bonus points myself.
I always enjoy the BA WES. This time I used a Kenwood T599D and Drake R4C. TX has 3 tubes RX had 6 but 1 was replaced with upgrade sub, so gave out 8 bonus points. RTTY caused havoc on 40M 20M was dead here a lot of the time. My antenna was Hustler 5BTV Key was a 1942 Lightning bug instead of the later model Original shown in the rig picture.
Nice to hear the Boat Anchors mixed in with the Rtty'ers..enjoy seeing the WES pix's and comments.
Had hoped to get the Globe Scout/SX-101A on the air...busy time with family...73
1st WES in along time and very rusty. Had fun and see all next month
I worked on 20 mostly . 40 was such a mess with rtty...also some stns using 80 mtr/s lots of new stns towards my sx6 now at 1065 ...cul all in March 73, Hank
RTTY drove us to the upper 40 meter band where I did fairly well. 20 meters was a looser this month. 80 meters bailed us out in the end.
I used a SPEEDEX Les Logan bug for this WES. See it's picture below. It is set up for 7 to 13 words per minute. the action is not quite as nice as my Vibrolex bugs but it does ok in a pileup.
I think I had about a total of twelve hours to play, this month, half on each day. Plenty of fun! I actually worked John in OZ, VK4SSN, with my 5W, Saturday afternoon! whoa! And that's long-path.
I also worked two of my old QRP Barbershop buddies, K1ESE and W5ESE.
My setup was an Elecraft K2 at 5W to a 20m EDZ up 50'.
here are a couple of our doggos.
Ever wonder what an ant out in the middle of a busy dance floor feels like? Use QRPp CW during a popular RTTY Contest and you will probably come close to knowing that. Always nice to be heard by Bert-F6HKA and Bob-F6EJN, especially when I'm running QRPp!
KX3 @ 1W - 40m Dipole - 20m Beam.

Great WES – I'm glad it was held in the winter this year! In the photo on the middle shelf are my WW II Navy RBB and RBC receivers. The B&W 5100 transmitter is below the RBC receiver. I gave out a bonus of 38, but there were really over 50 tubes glowing all through the weekend to keep the shack toasty – The RBB covers 80M and the RBC covers 40M and 20M; only one was in use at any given time, but both were “cooking”. I used my J-38 key for the event.
Spent more time in the WPX RTTY event this weekend. It sure makes a mess of 40 meters above 7040. Conditions seemed decent. Thanks for the contacts.
73 Chas K3WW
Able to get in quick and make a contact :-) Likely going to be the lowest score submitted :-), but I was happy to make this contact using just my radio, a key, pencil and paper and listening ears.
Sorry I didn't read about the boatanchor points. I have two tubes in my amp, which is very old. It is an Alpha 78, which ews made before we got the WARC bands in 1980, but had been professionally converted to work those bands also. Spent most of the weekend in Orlando FL at their hamcation and saw the SKCC booth and a number of members. Missed the photo opportunity because was off site for a meeting of the FL Contest Group. By the time I got home, the pace om 20M was very slow and 40M was fair with activity up around 7110 kHz due to the CQ WW RTTY WPX Contest activity on the usual 40M WES/SKS/SKCC frequencies. 73, John, K4BAI.
A friend of mine from our Navy days at NAVCOMSTA Adak back in 1965 - 1966 era recently challenged me to determine which of the 2 of us can work all 50 states the first, SKCC members only, starting from Jan 2020. This could be fun, a few of the states from Texas are gonna take a bit of work, Alaska for one.
Had more time to spend - K3Y practice helped me feel confident running for a few sessions - great time.
Thanks for the fun. My apology to the KM4 station that I couldn't pull out on 80m during one of my rare CQ's.
These WES events always feel more like a reunion than a contest, and that's great. Thanks guys.
The boat anchors sound great! Thanks for the QSOs.
One must have patience WORKING out of Idaho especially with a poor antenna...I will be more prepared next monuth...
May try to build a cootie for next month.
A frustrating WES to say the least. Had unexpected overnight company on Saturday, leaving only Sunday afternoon for WES. Then band conditions were kind of weird, with several stations simply disappearing in the middle of our QSO. And finally, there were the RTTY mavens, who cast their wide footprints all over the spectrum, seemingly without regard for anyone else's signals (especially problematic for those of us running crystal-controlled stations). Still, it was fun to fire up the boat-anchors, feel the warmth of their glowing tubes in my chilly basement, and hear the sweet chirp of their CW voices. Looking forward to the next one. Frank K8FAC
Only had a few hours Sunday to join in on the WES,Be Back next month !
but had fun !Got a few QSOs on 20 M, one on 160 and a bunch on 40 M today !
Enjoyed the boatanchor theme, but didn't hear many. Only 4 stations out of the 28 that I worked had tubes. My rig for this time around was a Drake TR4 (which did a nice job of keeping the shack warm). Key was a 1948 Vibroplex Original Deluxe. See you all again next month.
73, Noel
Conditions seemed good. Had fun.
I had a lot of fun during this WES. The HR-10 RX arrived just two days before the WES, and was not hearing very well at first. Got that fixed and then the W1TS original design TX had very low output at first. Got that fixed and was back around 4 watts output. Still need to do more work on that. There is something I still find amazing about "Boat Anchor Gear"! There will always be vintage gear at my station. Thanks to everyone for the QSO's and Thanks to all those SPECIAL stations with TUBES. Maybe, you will find a Tube TX or RX to use in next years "Boat Anchor" WES or like me almost everyday! 73 and Keep Having FUN! de Jeff K9JP 3008S
Many signals copyable with RF gain at just above zero on the HQ-170. Unfortunately, so were the RTTY stations. Had 32 tubes [modified Viking II with 122 VFO and HQ-170 receiver]. Did not copy any tube numbers from my contacts. Had a good time anyway. Always love Boat Anchor month, even though I don't have a lot of time that WE normally.
Portable Snowbird operations from Mesa, Az. 20 meters only using a modified Gotham vertical mounted
on side of car port to a TS530 and J-38 key.
20 meters was active with QSB.
I had fun in my first WES. QRP from Philadelphia.
I spent most of the weekend at Orlando Hamcation but managed to make a few contacts with my HW-101 to give a few points away.
Great fun and thanks to the guys maintaining all that old tube stuff. They sound great. Most contacts were on 80 and 40 and some good runs up above 7.106 on this one. RTTY make it kind of tuff. CU all next month.
Thank You for the February 2020 WES QSO's.
God Bless,
GL and 73,
Larry
Was practicing my sideswiper skills this weekend, sorry my fist not very good. Great propagation on 14MHz: F6EJN Bob on Sat, and JR2IUB (Take) and HP2SM (Santi) on Sun. Thanks all.
Not very good results this month. Thanks for the QSOs
Thank you everyone that made this WES so much fun. I will be looking forward to the next one!!
73,
Eric
Yet another fun WES in the logs. Couldn't get much going on 20m but 40 and 80 seemed very active. Lots of RTTY but with filtering you can get in the middle and play away. I mostly ran my Century 21 at 30w into a doublet or LNR Quad at 33 feet. Used a bunch of different keys, bugs and sideswipers. See you all in March and I'll be bacvk to my normal QRP self.
Nice to have the old Novice section of 40m for refuge during the RTTY contest! 80m and 20m also fun, but only one 15m QSO. As usual, only Saturday available for WES, but more time than usual made it even better. (And WB0SND with 53 tubes - wow!)
Only had time to participate on Sunday. But it was a good opportunity to give my new Yaesu 991 a workout. It was up to the task, and it was nice to see some good activity on 20 meters during the afternoon. Thanks everyone for the contacts.
Fun event. Just had to go up higher on 40 meters to get out of the RTTY. 20 meters was active for a few European SKCCers
Great time as usual!
Thanks for a great WES! Time was limited but did enjoy handing out 20 bonus points with my Heathkit HW-101.
I really appreciate the time and effort to put on these events. Although the bands were kind of rough, still had a good time. Great to see so many people participate.
Always enjoy the Boat Anchor WES, it gives me a reason to keep the Knight T60 and Heathkit HR-10B operational. Recent crystal grinding has resulted in enough TX frequencies to be somewhat flexible on three bands. 73
One of my favorite events. Not many other boat anchors received on this end but always fun. Ran my DX-60B along with the HG-10B VFO and a Drake 2A with some help from the Heathkit QF-1 Q multiplier. The bug was a Vibroplex Champion. Thanks to all that worked me and 73.
Was a busy weekend for me and didn't get to play on radio very much, . But was fun as usual. 73 to all, Don
Greetings:
Only had few hours on Sunday to participate.
Thank you all!
73!
I only got to operate for 1/2 hr. Hope to catch everyone next month.
This is always my favorite WES theme: Boatanchors!! All my gear is from yesteryear, so this is fun for me. Boatanchor WES is the only time that I can get a pileup waiting to work me. 22 tubes.
This time, I was running my Heathkit SB-101 (20 tubes) + an SB-640 external LMO (2 tubes). About 100 watts out, fan dipole antenna, and Navy flameproof straight key.
40m was good, but too bad about the digi stations around 7.050. Fortunately, many of us moved above 7.100 and carried on.
80m was just on fire Saturday and Sunday. I even had a QSO with WB0B (Larry 8753) from IA in broad daylight Sunday morning. I also got a new country for me, FG8NY Guadalupe (Jean 9424).
Had a great time working friends and using my Drake gear - 2NT/R4B. 73 to all
Blew the dust off the Kenwood TS-530S so I would have some tubes to contribute. RTTY contest kept several folks on the 40M Novice band, which wasn't bad at all. Had a fun time!
Used my J-38 key that I picked up at a hamfest last month. Really enjoy the WES. Great practice for a new CW operator.
Lots of new SKCC'ers for a change. Also a lot of new T's. First time I have worked more T's than S's. Lot of fun this month and more BIC time really helped with the score.
Not many points, but loads of fun,
KX3 to a multi-band dipole. I had a nice time given the limited amount of time available. Most of the exchanges involved a little chatting, which was nice. 73 to all.
Limited time for this event. Still very enjoyable for the time. Looking forward to the next one. 73, jack, KKØI
Conditions not the best and then RTTY interference made it even tougher. Thanks to all who worked me. CU next time.
73 - Russ

Fun weekend not much time on air but still got some contact
Old meets new. Kenwood TS-530S and solid state amp OCF inverted V at 30 feet. Loads of fun. Lots of stations on.
QSO stats: 8 on 21MHz (NIL in the others...)
TA33 - 50W - Homemade DSK (aka Sideswiper) and a German SK Firma Radio Richter (clone of the Baumuster LT1)
As always a great time... Thank you everyone for the QSOs BCNU 73, Walt - ..- ZUT
Murphy is alive and well. Rig problems hit and kept me troubleshooting all weekend. "Next month for sure!"
First WES participation for me in a long time but it was fun to catch the boat anchor captains as their signals drifted slowly by. hihi
Another fun Sprint
No time to operate but managed to get on for about 20 minutes of fun. Thanks for the Q’s.
Always my favorite theme! Thanks for the fun. -N3PDT
Got half of my contacts while /portable in outback Alabama. Nice to have Zero RFI.
Bands were blah on Saturday and on Sunday around lunch time, but then picked up in the evening. My biggest WES so far, by a slim margin. Put a major dent in my Tx8->S stations needed. From 133 needed down to 16 needed.
What can you say about RTTY ? grrrrrrrrr ! Operating at 1 watt will keep you humble :-) Many SKCC ops have great ears and patience. Thanks for digging out my pea shooter KX3 at 1 Watt with a Vertical. 72/73 de AL, N4ow 11375s
Only able to squeeze in about an hour on the air, but had great fun as always.
I enjoyed this month's WES, as usual. I look forward to that time each month. Still working on operating my homemade Cootie key.
No time for this one...got on Saturday morning, took a breakfast break, then got busy and never got back on CW the entire weekend.
Saturday, bands here were Great but not as good Sunday morning, but improved thruout the day. Thanks everyone fer another fun weekend. 73 Randy
Not much operating time thanks to Hamvention in Orlando!
WoW from 2 tubes of Bob, F6EJN to 53 tubes of Mike, WB0SND. I used my Brass AT&T STR Key and AiKey (in Cootie mode) by Chris, AI8W...Great Key
switchable as a Cootie or Keyer Paddle.

DAVE LARSEN N9ZXL...
Many thanks to AI9W and helpers for another fun WES. Operated a couple of hours Sunday mainly testing an inv vee dipole at 28 feet arranged E-W vs. a raised vertical with 5ft high raised radials. Used a KX3 at 15 watts and only made contacts to the North East from the Dallas area. Longest were ON and NH. Only 2 to ID in the West but no other westerners. The vertical produced contacts to near nearby northern states but not the dipole. The day before oriented the dipole N-S and made many Qs the West including a weak report from KL7 land. Go figure!, or maybe just daily propagation.
got on to have some fun, didnt do a lot of operating...
TNX 2 all for putting up with my qqqQRS fist and slow copy speed. SRI for so many & often
"?? & agn pls" !!! I know I slowed many of you ops down.
TNX! 73 steve
I was all set to use my Drake R-4A/T-4XB with 22 tubes but when I tuned up on 40M Friday night I only got about 40-50 watts out. So looks like finals are going and I had no extra set of 6JB6 tubes! Ended up using my Elecraft K3 at 100 watts with a Bencher RJ-2 key on Saturday and my Icom IC-7300 at 100 watts with a J38 on Sunday. Antennas used were an 80-6 OCF dipole at 30' and a 5 band 10-20 2 element Quad at 40. Had fun a anyway! Ordered a set of finals today so maybe next year I'll have those 22 tubes on WES!
My first WES with a new homebrew straight key.
Many thanks to all and 73 de Sam, OH2MGA
This was a fun WES searching out the "boat anchors" out there. I picked up tube counts of 3, 13, 16, 35, 22. Sorry that I had NIL tubes to offer. I do have a boat anchor station made up of a Heathkit DX-40 TX and VF-1 VFO which was my first operating station some 20 years ago before I went "modern". I haven't used the old DX-40 in many years. The RX is a two-tube regenerative RX which I homebrewed from the 1940 ARRL handbook (pg 110) which had a simple form of IF at about 1450 kHz. One of the best regens I've ever used. I used to take part in the Antique Wireless Association (AWA) "antique" radio events and I found it a challenge to zero-beat my TX frequency on the calling stations frequency and to keep on frequency due to the drifting VFO. Also lots of fun switching over from transmit to receive etc.. I even homebrewed a one-tube 1929 style TX with 5W output. That was a wild thing to tune up and stay on frequency for more than a minute but I made AWA QSO's with it at the time. Anyway, my hats off to all the boat anchor operators out there who took part in this event. It can be a real handful operating the classical radios in a contest.
Thanks to all for a good weekend - special thanks to the 'boat-anchor' stations. Zero tubes here- tho' the Vibroplex in the pic, which I have owned since 1956, has keyed a lot of tube rigs! Part of the shack was tidier than usual for a new pic.
That was fun, my first WES as Tribune. QRM was more of an issue than QRN or QSB. Confidence is building up and it makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. I include a photo, a view from the driver seat; next one will have more light on the black equipment... 73.
Nice weekend and fun theme, thank you all!
My Kenwood TS-520S stil working- 3 tubes. Thanks to All. 73 Krys
Bad propagation and QRN during the contest
This is the first SKCC sprint that I have entered. Lots of fun and easy to do it. I will try and enter as many as I can in the future.
I only operated a total of 4.5 hours this Sprint, which means about 13 QSO's an hour. 80m and 20m were the best bands, as 40m had QRN and QRM due to RTTY. Fun as usual. See you next month!
Not such a great time out. The RTTY blew it for me as it made 40m (usually my go-to band and the band I have the tube rigs set up for) not really all very useful. Squeezed a few contacts in.. but mostly just read my mystery book on a cold weekend. Got 'woke' onto the 40m 'Novice' section too late to make any real dent. No tube bonus points - too bad, as the theme interested me and I could not give any out either as the tube rigs were not 'at hand' when a heard a bit on 40m. Next year for such an event I will have the antenna tuner numbers and dip/load numbers at the ready to be able to be more frequency agile if it appears RTTY or some other wide contest is on at the same time.
Thanks for another fun WES. Until next time - 73's Brian
I was transmitting with a DX-40 at about 40 watts, with a VF-1 VFO, into vertical antennas. A total of 10 tubes were used, including a couple of extras I
added during modifications. The receiver was an IC-7410. I used a Swedish straight key and a 1954 Vibroplex Blue Racer. Best DX was JE1RZR Manabu, SKCC 6423
on 20m.
Thanks for the sprint. CUL!
First W.E.S after a long period of inactivity. Had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute! Thank you all!
Limited time this weekend, so I was in and out. Conditions didn't seem bad, and 80m was quite good at night. Since there were no multipliers for the bonus points, it didn't seem like there was a big incentive to chase the boatanchor guys. But it was definitely a good time of year for that theme. Thanks to all.
Used TS-530S with 3 tubes.Thanks for"winter" Boat anchor theme.
Slow month. Thanks to the few I did work and hope to have more air time in march. See you on the bands during the rest of this month. 73 Ron
Lot's of fun. I sent K3Y/1 only 3 times that I'm aware of :) Only 2 QSO's on 15m, so 80/40/20 got a workout. On 40m I stayed in the old Novice segment, 7100-7125, to escape the rtty test. Looking forward to next month 73..
My first WES in a while. I tried out my new QRP rig. Worked only 20M for about 2 hours near the end of the event. Worked mostly western USA stations.
Had more diverse contacts on 20 this month than I have had before. Everyone sounded great. Hate that we keep getting tangled-up with the RTTY contests. At least folks moved up to the old novice band on 40 for the WES, otherwise it would have been nearly impossible to do much on 40 due to RTTY QRM. 73, Joe W4JF
Propagation was not the best into Oklahoma and the RTTY contest destroyed 40m, but still had fun. Thanks to all who participated, 73 Dan
Lots of fun and new stations in the log. Thanks to everyone that worked me. Straight key the whole time.
First time sprint participant!
Many tnx fer the Q's on my new K2 5w delta loop antenna all bands up 65 feet true ladder line c all of u in the next SKCC/WES 72/73 Bud w8bud.
Limited operating time, but had fun anyway. QRM was horrific from RTTY stations in RTTY WPX contest.
Fun WES even without any tubes. Also had a fun time at the SKCC booth at HamCation in Orlando Friday.
This one was a bit of a challenge with QRM & QRN at my QTH.I managed a few contacts but only one "boat anchor".
Had some extra time this weekend so set my sights on making 75 contacts, but I did 100. Certainly my best WES to date. Band condx here fairly good. Ran 75 watts from my TS-590SG into an HF6V Vertical (elevated) using a Kent KT-1 Straight Key. Thanks to all for a fun weekend.

Not much tie this weekend as most of it spent at the Orlando Hamcation.
Good to see everyone at the SKCC booth and made the picture on Saturday. I am the one in the front row with the cast and sling on my our arm.
Great to meet Ted from the Dit Dah Gang KS8KCC and our club KS3KCC. We only need 3 more call areas to get club stations and we will have KSXKCC in all call areas......Lets get it done and maybe we can have an award for worked all KSXKCC club stations....

Thanks to everyone for a fun WES! Good to see some old friends and make some new ones. :-)
Very limited operations for this one. Thanks to all the operators and organizers. 73 from Mustang, OK
First time QRO: 10 W. Sure was nice hearing those tube rigs. Somehow the sound is mellower.
A LOT INTERFERENCE FROM RTTY STATIONS
BUT MANAGED GET AROUND IT. ALL IN ALL
HAD A GOOD TIME. THANKS TO THE FOLKS
THAT PUT THE SPRINT ON.
Was in Orlando worked a few FL/M. 73, Ray
Always enjoy using my boat anchors. Indeed, I almost always use the in the WES regardless of the bonus month. This month, I used the Collins 75A-4 RX and KWS-1 TX for a total of 53 tubes.
Conditions overall were not good. 40 was useless due to the contest. So, my QSO count was way down from most weekends. Thanks to everyone and looking forward to next time. 73 Mike WB0SND
GREAT FUN ON STRAIGHT KEY, WORKED KS9KCC ON TWO BANDS PLUS A NUMBER OF BONUS STATIONS! OPERATED QRO ON THREE BANDS FOR A TOTAL 12.5 HOURS ON THE KEY. THANKS & 73!
MIKE
Thanks everyone for the activity this weekend! It was fun to operate some boat anchors despite the QRM from RTTY.
Only on for about 30 min. Friend from the UK over to visit the "colonies" so time limited. It was fun even if very short for me. My 2 tubes came from the SB200 amplifier.
Had a ball using the Heath HW16 and the Drake 2nt/2c rigs for the Boat Anchor theme.
Had fun. But with my fixed frequency and lower output power (25 W) on hand, I only managed to make two contacts. I wisely took this good WES event opportunity to get my old 1950's Johnson Viking Adventurer XTAL-XMTR (shown on the top) and also old National NC-125 RCVR (bottom) rig models out again, that I acquired (from my uncle Sam) back during my 1970's CW Novice days operating on our 40 meter band segment - It was more of a simple time and I had fun back then. - Thanks.
Enjoyed the WES as always! Thanks for the Q's. See everyone next time! 73, Mark WB9HFK
I am new to this, and I apologize if this was submitted more than once. When I clicked on "Click on the box to see your score," it kicked me out of the submission process, sent me back to the beginning. My first submission to SKCC, and maybe my last, if the web interface doesn't work. Jay wd0egc.
sunday was better than Saturday. Always a fun event!!!!
Too many distractions this month to have a good showing. Thanks to all that I contacted and the new numbers I received.
Limited time to operate, but was still a blast! WES is always a fun event.
Some RTTY QRM but not bad. WES is always fun.
I got on for an hour or so on both days. Made contacts on 20 and 40. I worked the bonus station for the first time. Thanks, Al!
I ran my old Ten-Tec Orion, the stealth dipole and Speed-X straight key. Thanks for the contacts.
CW was always my favorite mode but haven't worked much in a while. Participating in the event was the most fun I've had in our hobby in a long time, I look forward to working more of the SKCC Sprints.
