Conditions were fair, short time to operate, Thanks for the QSO's
Went QRP for this event. Cons: heard many stations at 599 but they did not hear me. Pros: thanks to those who struggled to hear my signal and did get a couple of 599 reports. Only made 8 contacts, but the highlight was working Ted, K8AQM on 80 meters who was using his lightbulb antenna. After SKS ended I had a qso on 160 meters with VE6PG, a total of 380 miles. He gave me an rst of 339. I'll take it for 5 watts on 180 meters.
I came in late and was a little nervous so only worked 1 station but I did enjoy it. I'll do better next time around. AA7TS Don
It is Spring... 80 meters was noisy. Some gud sigs on 40m, though. Nice to get some additional members in the old log as I advance towards a 'T'. In these scary times, it was sure nice to forget about the panic out there. Hope everyone stays healthy so that we can hear you again next time. 73, Joe.
I woke up this morning with both my 80m and 40m dipole antennas on the ground from snow/ice damage. There was no way I thought I would make this sprint, never mind being very competive. I slowly cleaned up the broken mast and hooked my dipole ends to trees that were much lower than my mast height. Conditions must have been good as I never have made this many QSOs in a sprint. I have to say this was my most satisfying sprint to date. Pleasantly surprised to work SDAK on 40m.
Started late and propagation was weird at my location. Some stations that normally have 599 where in and out of the noise. 40m was long and 80m had a high qrn. Still, I managed to make a few contacts, and as always I had a lot of fun! Thank you so much everyone! See you in the bands, 73 de Ruben, AC2RJ.
Another great 2 hour sprint, thanks to all that worked me and look forward to next month's Sprint.
Enjoyed the Sprint, still a little rough around the edges but enjoyed it and thanks for all of the contacts!! 73s
Where were our friends up north, in VE-land? I didn't hear any at my QTH.
No time to play tonight. 40 meters was great during the sprint. 72 to all. Peter
Condx vy bad on 80 tonight. Hope next time will be better.
Fun to make a few contacts on 40 and 80. Got tired of listening to the qrn on 80 and pulled the plug after half an hour.
Thanks everyone for contacts on my newly restored K2 recovered from a decade in a storage Locker, dirty and dead! 73 Ed
All east coast tonite, though 40 opened up last half hour. Guess 20 just doesn't like Tuesdays. Had a good time, though, and looking forward to the next one. Vy 73 to all, Lee K1LEE
Started on 80 QRP Zero contacts, raised power to 40 watts moved to 40 for a few QSO's, Thanks for the QSO's and need to improve antenna for QRP operation.
My cat has discovered that when I am not sending code my right hand is basically idle so she has determined that when I am not sending I have a few moments to hold her and scratch her head.
Excellent Sprint tonight! Decent conditions, and... everybody is home, looking for something to do! At this point, I'd go for one of these a week. As always, I used my trusty K2 at 5W to a 20m EDZ up 50'. My W1SFR TBFB cootie has been joined by a VizKey cootie, and I've been switching back and forth. The lava lamp is another recent shack acquisition, and adds a certain je ne sais quoi, don't you think?
First SKS in a long time. Great conditions on 40 and 80. Thank you for all the QSO's, Lots of activity. Nice to see. Ran QRO tonight To All Stay Safe, Stay well, stay on the air 73 Phil
It's been awhile and it was great fun! Fine conditions on 40M. Running 100W from a Kenwood TS-930 into a 65' wire. Of all the keys so far I use the Kent most. These sprints are a great way to get us together.
Was active on 40m and 80m. But not wall to wall like I thought it might be with so many of us confined to quarters. IC-756ProIII with 40m dipole at 25' and a Sloped 56' EFRW (Sloped from 7' to 20') on 80m. Jody - K3JZD
Many S's!
Very busy.. Lost one amp 40 kept working but got lost on 80 for a while. Nice to have 3 bands at least with some QSOs..did not get to 160. Hope everyone is well. 73 Chas K3WW
Only had 30 minutes, but cranked the 7300 down to QRP level and had six great QSOs. Stay well everyone. 73. IC-7300 at QRP to a 40 meter vertical delta loop (base at 7 feet / peak at 18 feet) Key was a W1SFR Cootie.
Lots of fun. Don't keep records, but this could be my best week day sprint ever. Stayed on 40M. Started on 7050 and moved up to 7051.5 after QRM. All calling CQ. Thanks to all who answered. 73, John, K4BAI.
Started out slow, but picked up especially on 80M. Thanks to all who pulled out my QRP signal. 73 Steve K4JPN
Got in last 45 minutes. 2 Qs on 40. 80 was good, made several calls, but no joy. Antenna loads up on 80 with tuner, but probably has less than 0% efficiency. Got to get something up outside. Icom 7000 @20 Watts to 25' end-fed wire in attic. Czech army key. Fun as always.
TenTec Argonaut V at 15 watts into low hanging dipole. Was amazed to find conditions that seem pretty good. Noted several serious pileups that took me a while to work the calling station. Conditions in Texas Panhandle were really decent and there seemed to be a high number of Missouri and Colorado stations active. Perhaps it was condx from TX to CO and MO.
fun as always - good conditions on 40M at least on my end! 73 es stay safe, Hal
Whew, rough going as single op running light bulbs as antennas. 80m was best and 160m pleasantly surprised with 8 QSOs. Altogether worked south as far as FL and TX, west to Utah and east to ME and NY.
Worked 80M all evening, Band started out noisey and a little qsb, but came around. Except a short jump to 160M to find es work Ted, K8AQM. Ohhh es a lil jump from me, when working Jeremy, KD8VSQ as a STINK BUG decided to land on the desk, right in front of me. Whew!!! Trying to finish up the TKA (SK) for the Club. Tnx for the new ones es nice to hear some regulars. 73 Randy
Fun time running the Speed-X key. My arm is tired!! Not used to that much time on the key. Only worked 80 meters. See you all next month.
May everyone in SKCC remain safe & healthy during this difficult time
Managed to get Nan PY2FRQ for my first QSO. Also found Ted K8AQM on 160m with his light bulb antenna. Fun SKS.
A good nite on 40 & 80, Not much QRN here in WNY. Only 1 QSO on 20m. Rig: IC-7000 at 100w. into G5RV up 25 ft. w/ WWII German Junker Straight Key. 73 to all & stay safe & healthy.
When I woke up this morning I thought: You know, I could really go for a nice CW sprint to sink my teeth into. I checked the Contest Calendar and realized that the SKCC sprint would happen tonight. Exactly what I needed! I consider sending and receiving a 599 report with W1DV in NC the highlight of the night. As a QRP operator I often send 599 reports, but don't often receive them. See you next month.
Did not even try 20 on this one. Went to 40 and spent about an hour. It was crowded. Some very good signals. Just did S/P and worked all over the country. 50 watts and in inverted vee on the IC 7410. Lots of fun guys! CU next month.
Only got to play off and on for an hour. Seemed like the bands were active enough. I heard K8AQM on 20 and 40 but only manged to work him on 80. Fun was had and that is the goal. Randy_KB4QQJ
Lots of lightning crashes here, especially on 80m, but I had fun using the cootie for the first time in a SKS.
Very nice conditions on 40 this evening for our first "shelter in place" event. Thanks to everyone for the contacts!
Thankful to have Ham Radio and the SKCC in times like these. Home this evening because Band practice is canceled. Actually got to get on for the 2 hours. God Bless everyone es 73.
Lots of fun tonight with good propagation. Played on 40 mtrs working on the TKA. Used a 1940's Les Logan Speed-X bug. Its not been easy but I'm having fun. Thanks for your patience folks. Hpe to C U down the log. 73s and stay safe.
Good signals in North Texas on 20 and 40. Thanks to those who worked me. Terry
Had fun. Hand got tired on SK so worked with bug for 20 min!
I was hoping to get more operating time, but still had a good time.
TNX to all who came back to my call...
It was fun as always, 73 everyone!
Thanks for the fun Sprint.
My first SKCC event. I was at work and used a coworkers mobile rig with my key. Only had about a 20 min window but had a blast. Thanks to Bob N3RDG for being my only QSO.
hope to do better next time
Pretty good night, with Q's on 20, 40, and 80m. I wish people wouldn't repeat information - I can generally copy it the first time, and like most people, I use a Call History file with most of the information. Thanks for the Q's! K3, KPA1500, Doublet, SKCC Sprint Logger, Amplidan key.
I started about thirty minutes late. almost forgot. Started out on 40 then moved to 80 and ran into fellow MO Outlaw Mitch NW0M. Had great time and thanks to all who participated....Bill N0UMP
A fun night as always
Wow, 80m was hopping! Thanks to all.
40 was very good, 80 ok, 20 open long enough to work the light blubs at K8AQM, peaking 589 here. Nice to work Jean, FG8NY, and Cuti, CO8OH. SKS Lots of fun as always. 73 de Al, N4ow 11375s
Nice sprint. Lots of signals. Lots of fun!
It's been a while (11 months) since I played in SKS. I've missed it. Thanks for the contacts this evening. 73 de Todd N7TMS
Worked the K8AQM "lightbulb" station on my only two bands down here (20/40)! The beautiful sunset occurred about 15 minutes before the SKS. Will be back home in Indiana next week . . . with a snow covered sunset?
My last SKS was Oct 2019 where I made a whopping 14 QSO's...20 this time :~) Thanks all, twas fun!! SKCC, the KEY to Amateur Radio
Some of the best band conditions and strong signals I've seen in a long time to make for a very enjoyable SKS. Used a recently repaired Ten Tec Scout 50W and either my vertical or TFD dipole. Key was 1938 McElroy bug. A fun time and nice diversion for those of us getting cabin fever. 73 to all.
First SKCC Contest
Lots of fun tonight on 80. Thanks for the Qs. Kenwood TS-530S, German Junker Key, OCF Dipole.
Only worked the last hour because I was watching the news and forgot about SKS! Worked only 80 meters using my K3, Bencher RJ-2 and an OCF Dipole at 30'. I did manage to work K8AQM, thanks for the call!
Very little time to operate but still made three QSOs, all three new numbers. Thank you and 73, Robert
Fair condx on 20m for a start. Thanks for the sprints. CUL!
Got a late start. Forgot all about it. Thanks for all of the Q's. All qso's were on 40. 1 qso on 80.See you in the next one. Always fun. Bob-W0YBS
Only got on the last 10 minutes, still fun.
20 meters disappeared at 0034z like the switch was turned off ! It was especially nice to see and work Cleon WA7RCT # 498T, And Bill N0UMP # 659S in the SKS tonight. And Thanks to everyone who made this a FUN evening of CW ! See you all next month!
First SKS! It was fun! 40m only
Just caught the tail end of the SKS, and my 5 watts is not so effective on 40 meters, but fun!
It was a lot of fun being called by FG8NY (thanks, Jean!) and V31AX (thanks, Paul!). 73 de W9HT
good fun, as usual.
Good conditions on 40 and 80. 90 watts, IC-7300, to a long wire strung along the fence up 5 feet. Didn't fry any squirrels with the antenna tonight. See you next month - stay safe and stay on the air! 73, Jack #21824
Rough band condx. CRkits HT1 , 5w into EFHW sloper. Tnx to all who help keep these sprints going. Ken
Very enjoyable sprint. Condx were great here. Couldn't find Ted's magic lightbulb antenna but still had a great time. Ran 75w from my TS-590SG into a vertical antenna, using a Kent SK. Look forward to next month. Curt WA2JSG NJ
Best Band Openings in a long time for me. Thanks all those who I was able to work and sorry I didn't get a QSO with some who called. Having trouble with noise on 80 the last half hour. 73 to all from Mustang Oklahoma and praying all are safe and well.
Great night for CW. 20m was open at the start. First three QSOs were there from Florida. 40m was open for me the rest of the time, even worked Florida again. Added 15 for my S-Quest. Heard Ted lightly on 80m. Couldn't decide which key to use so i switched between my Junker with Poker chip addition and my Kent SP-1 with work-in-process pads wired as a Cootie.
BAND CNDX WAS GOOD, ENJOYED THE 2HR SPRINT
Caught the last 10 minutes.
ALWAYS FUN, GOT A LATE START. 73!
I'm guessing I'm going to end up in first place with this score. Was a late starter cuz skyped with the kids. Be safe, see you on the band
Fun as always! Thanks for the Q's! See everyone next time! 73, Mark WB9HFK
First time I've done this! What a great time. Had lot of QSB but also made 599 contacts with the east coast from San Diego. 1st time with my new rig and it worked great. Thanks and 73 to all!
Temporary installation of Aerial-51 404-UL up 36ft as inverted V on a fiberglass push-up pole. Flex 6500 @ 100 Watts. Was able to get on the air after 0100Z. 40M had many good signals. 73 CU next time ..Mike
