Conditions were really good here this evening. The 2 hours went fast, but I didn't make that many contacts. I must have fallen asleep at the key for 40 minutes or so... 73 from WV ES CU in the September WES in a few weeks. ps Thanks for the bonus, Steve!
SORRY I forgot about this one...I was on earlier even posted dont forget...then found a good movie on TV..then SKS was all gone...AA6AC CA Bob 6276S ZERO/ZERO..waiting on conditions to improve..
Better propagation here than for previous SKS nights. Got a little late start but enjoyed it. Thanks to all who worked me!
Good sprint - only had time for the first hour.
What an awesome time! 8 QSOs from 8 different states! Operated 1h30m and most of the contacts were on 40m. Strong signals there. Thank you everyone for making the SKS a success. SKCC rocks! I see you in the bands. 73 de AC2RJ, Ruben.
Good to be back!... from my new qth - Mt Joy, PA. I was on about an hour and enjoyed qso's on 20 and 40. Signals were good. 50 w into an inverted vee about 125 feet long, center up about 25' (?) ... fed with 450 ohm ladder line.
Things were going great for the first 30 minutes then I was interrupted by a phone call and then I started to feel down from my flu shot so I called it a night. I did have a great time for the short time I played, thanks to all and hope to CU on the bands 73 de Tom
Had a rough night on the ears. QRN peaking at 30 over S9. A big storm just sat there about 50 miles north of my qth for the whole sprint and then it came south and chased me off the air about 1/2 hour before the end. Had a lot a fun as always..
The 20 meter band was best in the west and I never made it down to 40M. W8BFX showed up on 15M and was my lone contact on that band. The first hour I jumped around looking for QSO's but finally settled on 14.058.5 MHz. for the last hour. There was a buzzing den of QRP stations on that frequency but I think I was able to work most of them. WA4FQN, WI5H, and K2YGM had exceptional QRP signals which made me ashamed of my QRO 100 watts.
Very great amount of activity!
Had trouble with the amplifier about mid-way. worked about 30 minutes at 100 watts versus 500 watts? Thanks for the Qs. 73 Dale K3SEN
Seemed like lots of activity this month.
Fun Sprint! Pretty good conditions tonight! Thanks to the folks who dug out my QRP signal. I appreciate those folks who take their time to organize these events for us. Good job! 73, Bob Rig was an HB-1B QRP into a Perth Outbacker mounted on a A-D Outpost Tripod on the patio. Key was a Navy Flameproof.
20M was opened to the West, but had trouble raising stations on the East Coast, then switched to 40M and had much better luck with the East Coast. Thanks for all who pulled out my QRP signal.
Started late, was active the last 45 minutes. Ran my TenTec Argonaut V at 15 watts into aground mounted vertical on 20 meters. For 80 and 40 I used a low hanging 80 dipole that was fed with RG-8 and took the SWR hit on 40 meters. Band conditions were much better than I expected. Wish I had started at 0000Z. Thanks to all for copying my puny signal.
Got to spend more time that usual this time..one whole hour.
Whoops... forgot that we cannot use the Sked Page during SKS. I did and someone kindly reminded me of that restriction! So I DQ myself. Yes, I was there for 11 contacts. Oh well, no excuses except maybe I been away from SKS too long! Kindest regards to all de Jerry in NorCal
20 & 40 both in good shape but it's starting to get dark earlier now so 20 didn't last long. very glad we could work KS8KCC on both bands..73's & thanks to all who help put the sprints on...
Wish I hadn't missed the start by more than an hour. 20 meters sounded great when I finally powered up the rig. TNX for the QSOs!
Strong signals on both 40 and 20 meters. Enjoyed this event operating from my "summer shack" out in the back yard. 73 to all and see you on the next skcc event
Good conditions on 40. Seemed busier than most WESs. Had a good time for the first time out. Hope to work more. 73
Finely there was nice band conditions this SKS. 20, 40 & even 80 meters were in good shape here in WNY. Good turnout too. Rig: IC-7000 at 100w. into dipole up 25 ft. with old Junkers Military key.
Got in 3 QSOs between guests and dinner. Nice to start the quest for Senator. 73 Art #6907T
Just had about 30 min. to play last night and 20 meters was hot here. Just hunt and pounce because I could not find a slot to call CQ from. Ruff for a QRP station. Had fun and CU next month.
Very fun, wish I had more time.....
For this months SKS, I was portable working out of my trailer in Michigan's lower peninsula with a QTH near Reed City. The antenna was a Windom put up with surplus army fiberglass poles sections. Got the antenna up 25 feet.
Got a late start, but still didn't do too bad. Another nice sprint - thanks to those who plan these sprints and also to those who participate. Worked QRP using a K2 at 5 watts to a G5RV up 35 feet. Hope to hear everyone in the next WES. 72/73, Phil
really nice sks tonight
Just got back from vacation and only had 45 minutes to operate but it was still a great time on 40 meters. Band was in decent shape and had a nice string of QSO's. Thanks to all for continuing to make the SKS a fun event!
It was fun. Thank you all! QRP YouKits HB-1B Rig 5 Watts. End-Fed wire antenna at about 30' in the attic. Sergey KD9EBS 72! 73!
I stayed on 40M too long. The QRN was bad here and I should have moved to 20M. It was great fun though. SKCC is one great bunch of OPs. Thanks to all of you. 73 Dave
Wow, what a mixed bag. I started out calling CQ on 40m. Got edged out by a bigger station. Then S&P on 40m. Worked 'em all. No room to call CQ again. So S&P on 20m. Worked all of them, too. Then CQ 20m. Nil. Then CQ 80m. Nil. S&P 80m. Worked several. Finished up with CQ 80m and got one more. That was a lot of work for 17 QSOs!! Way more QRN than I expected on the lower bands.
20 meters was a contact rich environment but really rough for QRP. I look forward to working more sprints in retirement. All the best, Terry
20m seemed to be in good shape, but only had 30 minutes to operate.
Strong signals but a lot of competition and QRN so I didn't last an hour. I was happy to work Frank, W2IX, whom I believe was also QRP.
Our first use of this call. WA6OEF Preston, was our first ever QSO. Operators were Jeremy KD8VSQ,on 20m, Ted K8AQM on 80m and Don KD8SKO, our "ghost gangster" on 40m.
Spent majority of time on 20m. Thanks for the Q's. K3, KPA500, Doublet & Vertical, Begali Spark, K2RFP Sprint Logger.
Nice to meet new friends and old on the air. 20 meters seemed kind tonight. I tried a new combination of vibroplex bug, flex radio, and Gap Vertical Antenna. Thanks to all for the contacts.
I set out to go from 8 Q's last month to 18 this month, and got it on the nose. Next month I will try calling some instead for searching entire time. Thanks all and 73
Lots of fun tonight. 20 was in great shape for a change. Nice surprise to have Merv, K9HD/KH6 answer my CQ - Thank you Merv.
qrp hard, but got a little timein and had fun, havent done a sks in a while, used the new Begali Swing Cootie and Bug when other op was on a bug or fast, but had fun,
Conditions poor. Had fun AGAIN. 73
Only got in the last 20 minutes of SKS, it was still fun as always ! Picked up 3 quick ones on 40m with the KX2 and TinyBug ! See everyone next month in the WES..... 73 de Ed N7EDK Bradenton, FL
Stayed on 40,lots of strong signals for a change. Fun as always. Tks fer the QSOs . Tks to all at SKCC for making it possible. Ron
First try at the Sprint as a new SKCC member.
Rig:KX3 Ant: EDZ@35 ft Pwr:1watt Very good conditions tnx for the QSO's
Operated first hour of Sprint. Nice to work fellow MO Outlaws on 40M: K2HT, N0UMP, and WA0GBV. Thanks for the Qs. TS-530S, Tribander and OCF Dipole, Begali Spark, K2RFP Logger.
Lots of fun as always. Bands (40 and 20) were in great shape from here.
Nice sprint really enjoyed it. Brion
Thanks for hearing me in the crowd. Until next time - 73 - Brian
Used IC7000 with Bencher straight key and stayed on 20. Lots of stations heard this evening. Wow! --even worked the bonus station! -thanks Steve. And thanks for the sprints SKCC folks!- CUL!
15m was wide open to VK but only 2 stations responded to my repeated CQ SKS calls. Thanks to Slim, WA0BGV, and Jerry, K6III as they were my only 2 QSOs. I heard plenty of stations calling on 20m with good signals and I responded, but unfortunately no one was listening for VK. Maybe I will have better luck in the next SKS.
Worked 40 only. Lots of strong signals. 73
Pretty good conditions - some aurora wavering heard on 40m. Had a few contacts on 80m, so fall must be coming.
WORKED 40M FOR A WHILE. THANKS TO ALL THAT CAME BACK TO ME. HAVE A NICE LABOR DAY WEEK END EVERYONE.
A good nite to be on the air! 20 meters was very productive and 40 was busy if not a bit noisy. Thanks to all for making tonight another great SKS !
MTR-3 at 5W with KK1 key to 240' doublet at 25'. Worked 20M for an hour - lots of 59 signals. 1st contact was WB40MM. Used iPad with Hamlog. . 73
This evening W6BB finally surpassed the 100 unique SKCC numbers needed for Centurion. Used an ICOM IC-730 100 watts into a Yagi on 20m and a dipole on 40m. Go Bears!
Well, that was fun! I started calling CQ as the clock ticked over, and never moved from my first frequency--first time I've ever done that. The band seemed pretty open, but lots of QRN here. I know there was one or two QRP stations I just couldn't pull out of the noise. The noise here just didn't let me do it. Hope for a little better conditions next time.
Vibroplex Presentation with LaHiff adjustable mainspring. SN 164592 made in approximately 1949.
Many thanks to the operators who were able to copy my 5 Watts through all the QRN on 40 and 80 meters! I was able to do only the last hour, but still had a lot of fun. 72/73
Wow, 20 meters was hot with great signals. Worked QRP on 20 the entire Sprint. I gave more honest 599 signal reports by percentage than ever before, 12 of 14 QSO's; the lowest report I received was 549 and many 579-599. Best DX was K1NV in NV. My K1 at 5 watts to my attic horizontal loop (68 ft. around) at 25 feet up performed well with the great propagation; a sign of more to come this fall?
Great signals, good band conditions but not much time to operate. Looking forward to the next SKS! Thanks to all. 73
Wow, 20 meters was rocking out the whole night. Never even thought about trying another band. Signals were pretty good, and the QSB was not too bad, but I did lose a couple of stations in the noise. Worked a few new stations, and a couple of non-members too. Another fun sprint, and thanks for all the QSOs!
WOW! What a blast! 20M was open with GREAT signals, little noise. Worked from Mass to Wash and TX to CA, a VE7 & VE4! Mostly all 579/599 signals. Many regular folks....Stayed on 20M 'til it died - went to 40M, noisy here FL, but managed to work 12 more Qs in the last 30 mins. Since I was the Bonus Station, I ran 100W, not my usual QRP/QRPp. Looks like quite a few, "found" me - and a few on both bands. FT-2000 to A3S Beam on 20M, and G5RV on 40M. Speed-X straight key. Thanks to all for the GREAT time! It was fast, furious, and fun! Nice to see the activity and better bands! 82/73 to all! Steve WB4OMM
Propagation was good on 20 and 40. Hand logged all contacts for grins and later entered into the SKCC Logger. I had a great time on a wonderful summer afternoon and evening. Thanks to the organizers! Tom
Thanks to all I was able to QSO with time around. Slow to start, as if I was not heard by anyone. Then I started to be heard by some...... 73
just a fun time on the radio. i started on 20m, the coast-to-coast path was fun so I did most of my time there. took a long break and did some 40m to close the event. even found a few new T's and S's for my collection. nice to see everyone on the bands.
Fun sprint
I had to work late but got to operate the last few minutes, it was great to see 40m packed with manually sent CW signals! Rig here was a Flex 3000 into a dipole at 30 feet and a 1941 Vibroplex Original.
Worked part of the last half. 20 was great from TX to FL, MA and also worked NV. Never worked any other states...had fun anyway. Good to be on the air with lots of people on the bands. 72...Mike
40 meters was in good shape here in WV. A lot of really strong signals into WV. Once again, I had a blast running QRP and many thanks to everyone who managed to pull me out. 72/73 from WV!
Great sprint as usual. Nice to hear 20m in pretty good shape with no noise at all tonight. 40m was insane as usual...lots of stations and good signals. I dragged my feet a little at the beginning and made plenty of mistakes (Including doubling with a station I was calling and mistakenly thinking he called me and then doubling again with the station he REALLY called...sorry about that. Almost like a genuine contester hi hi). Thanks to all who make it happen?
